Aus heimischen H\u00f6lzern entstehen filigrane Kunstobjekte von hohem \u00e4sthetischem Anspruch. Florale Gebilde im Moment des Werdens oder Vergehens. Menschliche K\u00f6rper in der Pose der Versunkenheit oder des Geborgenseins. Engelswesen in ihrer vollendeten Sch\u00f6nheit wie der Erde entr\u00fcckt. Organische Formen, die sich dem konkreten Erkennen entziehen.<\/p>\n
Manche Strukturmuster, die die Holzskulpturen pr\u00e4sentieren, werden mit den hauchd\u00fcnnen H\u00f6lzern in den Bildcollagen wieder aufgenommen. Was in der Bildhauerei m\u00fchsam und geduldig zur Durchl\u00e4ssigkeit gezwungen wir, l\u00e4sst sich in den Collagen durch F\u00e4den scheinbar spielerisch miteinander verbinden. Das Durchbrechen, Durchdringen und doch noch immer Verbundensein wird im einen wie im anderen Kunst-Fall gleicherma\u00dfen aufgenommen und faszinierend zu einer Einheit verwoben.<\/p>\n
Waltraud Schrolls Holzskulpturen schmeicheln dem Auge und der Hand. Der unendlich lange Entstehungsprozess dahin scheint angesichts der fertigen Arbeit regelrecht dahingeschmolzen zu sein. Das nat\u00fcrliche Material hat sich nach dem unbarmherzigen Einsatz von Kettens\u00e4ge, Flex und Schleifpapier einer regelrechten Metamorphose unterworfen. <\/p>\n
Die Holzbildhauerei, wie sie Waltraud Schroll praktiziert, lehrt die K\u00fcnstlerin Demut vor der Natur und l\u00e4sst uns Betrachter bewundernd staunen: So glatt, so ebenm\u00e4\u00dfig kommen die Arbeiten daher, gerade so als sei es ein leichtes, ein selbstverst\u00e4ndliches Ergebnis nach dem beherzten Eingriff in den nat\u00fcrlichen Werkstoff.<\/p>\n

Local woods are transformed into artistic objects of great delicacy and high aesthetic quality. Floral forms captured at the moment of their blossoming or fading.<\/p>\n
Human figures in poses of contemplation or contentment. Angelic beings of consummate beauty, as if they were far removed from the earth. Organic forms that defy precise classification.
Some of the structural patterns found in the wooden sculptures are echoed in the visual collages through the use of wafer-thin wooden slats. What is achieved in the sculpture with great effort and patience to create transparency is, in the collages, connected in a seemingly playful manner by threads.<\/p>\n
The breaking apart, the interpenetration and yet the continued sense of unity are equally reflected in both forms of artistic expression and weave together in a fascinating way to form a single whole.<\/p>\n
Waltraud Schroll\u2019s wooden sculptures are a delight to the eye and to the sense of touch. The seemingly endless creative process appears to have vanished entirely in the face of the finished work. Through the relentless use of a chainsaw, angle grinder and sandpaper, the natural material has undergone a true metamorphosis.<\/p>\n
